The alarm went off this morning and my wife rolled over and said, "two and a half sleeps."
It's probably pretty obvious, but "sleeps" is how we've counted the last few days before events ever since the girls were little. Sleep Monday night, sleep Tuesday night, and ... I guess ... sleep half a night Wednesday before we get on the train at 2am?
"I don't think there'll be any half-sleep," I said. "We'll be too excited." I mean, let's be serious, every time I've looked at the clock since last Thursday, I've mentally adjusted an hour later and projected what we'd be doing at that time "a week from now."
Surprise! I could be ready to go now, almost!
A month ago I thought I'd still be scrambling today and tomorrow, same as I had been back around Labor Day. But once everything came together on the rebrand of my travel practice, Squared Away Travel (was Cruise Made EASY) over the weekend before last, I've been doing polish work, and am now in ready-to-go mode at least 3 days before I thought I'd be.

It has been nice. I got a project done I thought would have to wait till we got back ... putting chicken wire around the inside of the rail on our apartment patio, so the cats can lounge outside without having to be continually supervised.

...they've only lived here two years; Cat Dad didn't get in a hurry to do this it seems.
It's what you do when you have a roll of chicken wire in the living room, the first day in weeks where the high was cooler than 90, and knowing you'd be gone for three weeks, the likelihood was you'd find some reason to not get around to it after you got home. And then it'd be cold.
Plus, I'm always going to take the opportunity for a gratuitous cat photo or two!
