I woke up today a bit out of sync with the world, not sure after the continual time zone changes exactly what time it was. But when one is awake before the alarm and has a balcony steps away and it’s pre-sunrise…one goes out on the balcony and catches up on writing.

Our Mazatlan Plans
Today I have chosen to do a packaged tour, but a much smaller one than the ship-sponsored tour. The van could only hold 12; we ended up with 9 as we departed from the port.

Our tour guide was David Maciel

Tour Highlights:
Catedral Mazatlan Basilica de la Inmaculada Concepcion

Note the Jewish Star of David at the top of the stained glass window. There are 28 of these, which commemorate the Jewish Temple’s financial support of the Cathedral building after the Catholic Church ran out of money halfway through the construction. The dual symbology is unique among all Catholic churches in the world.

Mazatlan Overlook
I wanted to duck as we got out of the van! See those high lines? That’s a ZIP LINE from the Lighthouse peak back to where we are! Two zip riders arrived on the Zip line about 50 feet overhead just as we got out of the van.

The lines are so high up, and span such a distance, that they carry a wire above them with aircraft warning globes attached.
Lunch and the Golden Zone
We chose to walk to Senor Frog’s and get some memorabilia and clothing, then ate here:

A great lunch!

Back onboard: Rest, drinks at O’Sheehans, and the Crew Talent Show
I wish we could have taken some photos of the crew talent show — it was a hoot!
